Our approach to understanding how weather and climate impact production of tart cherries centers on the development and utilization of a model that is based on the physical processes which govern crop growth, development, and yield. Such a simulation model can be used in a large number of hypothetical situations in which all production-related variables except climate are held constant, allowing a more thorough and representative analysis of climatic impacts including projections of future conditions.
