But Guenther wants to know what the probability will be that snowfall will exceed (or not exceed) a certain amount. So, he needs to add the probabilities at each point. The (purple) curve that represents this running total is the exceedence probability curve (EP). It gives the probability that the quantity in question (in this case snowfall), will not exceed a certain amount.
