Probablistic forecasts can be very useful for expressing the uncertainty of a weather outlook far into the future. The basis for the probablistic forecast can come from historical climatology or from numerical weather prediction models or from general circulation models. SkiTool uses historical climatology to determine the probability that warm or cold years in Michigan in the future will yield certain amounts of snow.
